At Noble and Wright we are passionate about all of our bespoke dresses but this one has to top the list as one of the more daring pieces we’ve made.
I remember Cara’s first visit to me at the shop. When I sat down to get to know Cara and get a feel for her style and the type of wedding she was having I knew it wasn’t going to be any ordinary appointment. Cara didn’t hesitate in telling me straight away that she didn’t want to wear white or ivory but that she was thinking of opting for something far more unusual. The moment she mentioned wearing black I knew instantly that I wanted to make Cara’s dress. Her brief: she wanted to wear black but under no circumstances did she want it to be Gothic in anyway. Inspired by the nude and dark tones of some amazing Vera Wang dresses she wanted it to be ethereal and romantic and I completely fell in love with the whole idea!
From start to finish it was a two year process that started with designing and beginning to create and source fabrics for Cara’s vision. We quickly decided on using a soft black tulle and found a beautiful nude silk crepe back satin to sit beneath it. Every appointment was a complete joy and a hub of creativity as this incredible dress began to evolve. At the later stages we introduced a luxurious black velvet ribbon belt and large tulle bow tie at the back that added to the subtle finishing touches.
I cant begin to explain how much of a privilege it has been to be a part of Cara’s day and I am forever thankful to her for allowing me to design and create one of my all time favorite pieces we have made.
A truly daring but timelessly beautiful bride.
