Our bride with a difference…

Michele’s dress for her autumn wedding has gone down in our history books as one of our all time favourites. We love it when a bride wants to experiment with colour and do something different. Michele’s colour brief for her dress were the tones of the Hydrangea flower which suited her perfectly.

We wanted to share with you the story of her day.

The Setting…

Michele and Simon got married in the beautiful setting of Normanton Church in Rutland Water. “We chose this location because of its beautiful natural surroundings.” They had a civil ceremony in the old church that is now a museum.

The feel of the day & colours…

“It was my favourite time of year ‘autumn’. My dress was lilac/blue which is my husband’s favourite colour!!” We adore how the tones of Michele’s dress compliment the time of year so beautifully. When Michele describes the feel of her day she said “there was a mist on the water and the trees were turning golden, there was a slight chill in the air. It was so lovely to arrive at our wedding lunch where the log fires had been lit.”

What was unique…

Aside from her choice of colours for her dress Michele said how much all her guests enjoyed the relaxed feel to their day. “We were told how natural the whole day has been. Not over planned or ostentatious, everyone was so relaxed! We had a lovely day!”

Flowers…

Michele’s florist was Sally Holmes based in Oakham. “She did a wonderful job and the flowers were exactly what I asked for and they were so natural. I wanted lots of green foliage with muted blues and she added some antique pink roses and blue thistles.”

Hair and Make up…

“A lady called Tina whom I have used since I was in my late teens did my make up.” It was really important to Michele to look soft and natural.

Shoes…

We defiantly approved of Michele’s choice of shoes; they went so perfectly with her dress. She opted for a silver Sophie Porter shoe with crystal heels. “You couldn’t see much of them but they added a little elegant sparkle when they peeped out of my dress. Great for wearing over and over again.”

Accessories…

Michele kept it ultra effortless with simple drop silver earrings.

Bridesmaids & Groomsmen…

Michele has her daughter as her bridesmaid who wore blush pink. The men wore tones of blue with a causal simple shirt which matched the feel of their day.

How did your dress make you feel…

“The colour of my dress was perfect, just how I imagined. The flow of the material was incredible when the wind blew it looked full and when it hung still it lay slim like a fitted dress. I felt elegant and special.”
